He was baptized in the Lutheran Church at the wish of his father, and converted to Catholicism when he was seventeen. Two years later, in , Alfred entered the Society of Jesus.

In this conversation he learns the fundamental principles of his being-adoration, veneration, love, trust. Alfred Delp was born in Mannheim, Germany, to a Catholic mother and a Protestant father. Although baptized Catholic, he was raised and confirmed a Lutheran. At the age of 14 he left the Lutheran church and was confirmed as a Roman Catholic. In his later life Delp was a fervent promoter of better relations between the churches. Alfred Delp was a German Jesuit priest and philosopher of the German Resistance. A member of the inner Kreisau Circle resistance group, he is considered a significant figure in Catholic resistance to Nazism. Falsely implicated in the failed July Plot to overthrow Adolf Hitler, Delp was arrested and sentenced to death. He was executed in /5. Fr.
